After doing things the hard way all morning, I'm going to see if there's an easier way.

I have been working on a theme for Moodle 2.0 all day. This means I have been brushing off my rather rusty CSS skills. I played around, changing colour codes to bright pink to see where they turned up on the site for a while. Then, with a reasonable grasp of what went where and how to change things, I went from turning things pink to turning things green, as per the needs of the customer.

So, with more and more success as the day progresses, I have been editing the CSS to my needs. But one darn thing stumps me. I can't figure out why some menu highlights aren't turning yellow like I told them to, but remain stubbornly pale blue.

So... I have installed Firebug in the browser, and the Moodle 2.0 CSS Theme Block into my Moodle site. Between the two of those, I should be able to track down that elusive command! Menu highlight, you are mine!

I will need to put aside Firebux for Firefox for now until I have the time to work out how to use it, but the CSS Theme Block for Moodle 2.0 is awesome! It helped me tweak bits and pieces. So I have now made major inroads in creating a theme.

That drop down menu thing is still eluding me, though. It's still blue, I want yellow. And I cannot for the life of me find the CSS code to match it. The hunt will continue either later or tomorrow!
